The short version
Essential storage remembers the choice you made. Analytics and advertising are separate, optional purposes. Saying yes to one does not mean saying yes to the other.
What each category does
01Essential
Remembers your explicit cookie choice and the details needed to honour it. This storage is necessary to keep your preference in place; it is not used to measure visits or build advertising audiences.
02Analytics
When permitted, Google Analytics 4 may use the _ga identifier and related _ga_ cookies to distinguish website visits and understand how the site is used. This helps us understand overall site activity; it is not required to browse or enquire.
03Advertising
When permitted and configured, Google advertising cookies such as _gcl_ and other Google-owned cookies may support ad measurement or remarketing. Their lifetimes are provider-specific and are not automatically the same as the analytics or consent duration. Our current GA4 remarketing integration needs both Analytics and Advertising permission. Choosing Advertising alone does not enable Analytics.
How long things last
These durations are controlled independently.
Your saved choice
The browser stores an explicit choice for up to 24 calendar months, measured from the moment you save it. Ordinary visits do not extend that period. Older legacy choices remain valid for six months from their original save date unless you explicitly save a new choice.
Analytics cookies
The configured request for GA4 cookie expiry is 730 days (63,072,000 seconds, about 24 months). Cookie updates on activity are off, so activity does not refresh that expiry. Browser limits still apply: for example, Chrome may cap cookie lifetimes at 400 days and Safari may limit them to 7 days in some contexts. The requested expiry is not a guarantee of how long a cookie remains in your browser.
Advertising and audience membership
Website remarketing membership is configured separately in Google Ads or GA4. The requested account-side audience membership duration is 540 days (the platform maximum is 540 days). This is a configuration target, not a confirmation of the live account setting. Membership can be renewed by qualifying visits where consent permits; its clock does not start from the date you saved consent.
Policy1
Purposes1
Consent duration24 months
A material policy change or change in purposes/providers may require a fresh choice.
Where your choice is kept
The essential localStorage item sewing-bliss-cookie-consent holds the original explicit choice date, analytics and advertising categories, policy and purposes versions, and the duration that applied when the choice was saved. Storage may be denied, cleared, or evicted by your browser. If it cannot be kept, your choice may apply only for the current page visit; deleted identifiers are not restored.
When a fresh choice is needed
A new choice is requested when the saved choice expires, is missing or invalid, browser storage has been removed, or the policy or purposes change. A changed policy or purpose can bring the expiry forward, before the saved duration ends. Saving a fresh choice starts a new period using the then-current settings.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Use the control below to revisit your categories. Withdrawing optional consent stops future collection through this browser and the site attempts to remove its first-party _ga and _gcl_ cookies. This does not erase information already held in Google's records, guarantee immediate removal from an advertising audience, or remove cookies set on third-party domains.
Google and your browser
Google's cookies may be governed by Google's own terms and controls. Browser settings can also be used to view, block, or clear cookies, though blocking essential storage may mean this site cannot remember your choice.
Consent validity, cookie expiry, audience membership and Google account data-retention settings are separate. This notice describes the website's settings; browser restrictions and Google's own settings may limit how long information is kept.
